Apart from the empty OpTex building (the company went into receivership at the end of 2005), the majority of the site is occupied by a number of shops, homes, small businesses, workshops, offices, cafes, a pub, a club, and a petrol station.

New Barnet already has a large Sainsburys supermarket, which required the demolition of the properties on one side of East Barnet Road in the late 1970s. Tesco's 'regeneration' plan would involve the loss of all the small buildings on the other side of East Barnet Road that still give the area some local character.
